Dear supporters of the Noah Association!

Gratefully, we look back on the past year. Grateful for the vibrant community in the House of Smiles in Micula, for the tireless commitment of Irina, Judit, and Eva, the three employed staff members in the Noe Partium project, for the voluntary support from the village of Micula, for Fritz Mayerhofer's dedication to completing the residential building, for the achievement of donation deductibility for the Noah Association, for the sponsors, and for the many large and small donations.

Happy faces in the House of Smiles

At the end of August, a group of supporters traveled to Romania.

In the House of Smiles, we were greeted with big smiles by the people with disabilities and the staff. The relaxed and very warm atmosphere deeply moved us all. Twelve people with cognitive disabilities have been coming to this day care center from Monday to Friday for six years. Here, they do embroidery, painting, play, learn, cook and eat together, sing, laugh, pray, and more. Some of these individuals live at home under very precarious conditions. In the House of Smiles, they have a safe space, receive professional support, and are accompanied with love.

In the conversations with Irina and Judit, the two main responsible persons, the many organizational and financial challenges are also discussed. A special challenge is the completion of the residential building under construction, called Tünderhon. A lot has been accomplished. The shell is up, and windows and doors have been installed. If everything goes according to plan, the house should be ready for occupancy in 2024. Around 83% of the construction costs have been financed. About €70,000.00 are still needed. This house will provide a permanent and safe home for ten people with disabilities.

A Brilliant Idea for a 60th Birthday

Mag. Christoph Pernter, OPraem, pastor in Völs, asked for no personal gifts on the occasion of his 60th birthday, but instead requested donations to support the Noe Partium project in Micula. This request received a very positive response, with almost €11,000.00 being donated.

The supportive network of sponsors is growing.

Sponsors contribute regularly to support the ongoing operations of the "House of Smiles," where twelve people with disabilities are lovingly and professionally accompanied and supported.

The House of Smiles is funded through government grants, support from the local community, contributions from the people being cared for, proceeds from the sale of self-made products, and donations. Currently, three employed staff members and ten volunteers work there.

From November 2022 to October 2023, the sponsors donated a total of €3,570.00.

A big "Thank You" for your donation(s)

Around €77,500.00 (including sponsorships) were donated to the Noah Association from November 2022 to October 2023. We would like to sincerely thank you for the incredible support. Donations are always a sign of trust and appreciation. With your donations, which we passed on 100% to Noe Partium in Micula, we were able to support the ongoing operation of the House of Smiles with €17,500.00 in 2023. The remaining donations will be used for the completion of the residential building under construction.

Several people supported us with very generous private donations. An elderly lady donated the impressive amount of €20,000.00. We would like to mention the support from the Kiwanis Club Schwarz (€3,000.00), the Order of the Servants in Innsbruck (€5,000.00), the Dr. Reinhold Stecher Foundation (€2,000.00), and the donations made in memory of DDr. Eszter Banffy (€1,200.00).

Donations to the Noah Association are tax-deductible

The deductibility of donations to the Noah Association applies from February 17, 2023. This means that all donations from individuals and companies liable for tax in Austria, made after this date, can be deducted from taxes. In order for this to be possible, we need the full name (as it appears on the registration form) and date of birth from the donors. We will report this data, along with the donation amount, to the tax office at the beginning of 2024. Donations will automatically be considered as a special expense in the 2023 employee tax assessment.
